Remembering La Haine

 2021, Chanteloup-les-Vignes, France

In 2020 the French movie <La Haine> (Mathieu Kassowitz, 1995) celebrated its 25th anniversary.
A big part of the movie plays in the quarters of <La cité de la Noé> in <Chanteloup-les-Vignes> a Parisian suburb just a riprap (ca. 38km) away from the capital.

For my series I went to <La cité de la Noé> an urban, gloomy, still rough quarters mostly built out of cement, with a lot of closed stores..
I was looking for places of important scenes/key scenes out of the movie wondering how they look like now.
Some places changed some are still the same some are gone because of newly constructed buildings in 2003.
I was also looking for habitants which were part of the movie, knowing the movie..
Some of them still live there some left.

<Remembering La Haine> shows different places out of the movie in a chronological order according to the movie.

The series comes along with portraits of people living there. People who all know the movie even if they weren’t born yet the movie was shoot.

<Remembering La Haine> includes personal answers to the question <Le respect, c’est quoi pour vous?> of the ones I took a portrait.
